Basecamp Kejora.
A living classroom in the middle of nature, the birthplace of Kejora's journey in nature-based education.
What is now known as Basecamp Kejora began as an abandoned garden space that had fallen silent. Through the power of community cooperation, local families, volunteers, and educators came together to clear the land, plant new trees, and revive the first simple structures that would become the heart of Kejora's educational centre. Built as much as possible from wood and bamboo, and set in the middle of nature, all of our learning spaces reflect our vision of learning with, from, and in the natural world. Through shared effort and creativity, the space has transformed into a vibrant environment for exploration, play, and growth.
Today, Basecamp Kejora stands as both a school and a living classroom. The school is designed with sustainability and harmony with nature in mind, featuring four classrooms, a library, a sports field, and an outdoor playground, all thoughtfully integrated into the surrounding landscape. Here, children learn alongside nature's rhythms, and the values of collaboration, sustainability, and care for the island are lived every day. It remains the birthplace of Kejora's beautiful journey in nature-based education, rooted deeply in the soil and spirit of Karimunjawa.
Designed with nature, for learning.
Our facilities are thoughtfully designed to support a dynamic and engaging learning experience. Surrounded by nature and built with sustainable materials like wood and bamboo, our environment encourages children to explore, create, and connect with the world around them.
