SPS Kejora Preschool

A bilingual, nature-based preschool where island children begin their learning journey through play, curiosity and care.

SPS Kejora is the heart of everything we do, a small, warm preschool on Karimunjawa where children aged 3 to 6 spend their mornings singing, painting, gardening, and learning in both Indonesian and English.

Our approach is play-based and rooted in the natural environment of the island. Every day includes movement, storytelling, art, free play, and time outdoors, because childhood should feel like childhood.

A bilingual foundation

Children hear Indonesian and English throughout the day from teachers who love both languages. We don't drill vocabulary, we sing it, cook with it, plant it, and play games with it.

By the time our children graduate, they are comfortable switching between languages and confident to speak to visitors, teachers and friends alike.

Nature is our classroom

Our garden, the beach, the mangroves and the forest are all part of the curriculum. Children learn about the tides, the birds overhead, the vegetables they grow, and how to care for the island that cares for them.

Built with local families

Parents are welcomed into the classroom every week. The rhythm of the school follows the rhythm of the island, fishing seasons, harvests, celebrations. Nothing at SPS Kejora is designed in a distant office.
